English Language Learners

ELL – English Language Learners

Students whose home language is not English, based on their response in their Home Language Survey are referred to the Language Acquisition Division for an English proficiency assessment. If a student is found eligible, one of the Stoddert ELL Team members provides support.

We follow the Common Core State Standards.  We focus on building listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

We use the following websites and programs with our ELL students:

  • Imagine Learning
  • Raz-Kids
  • Starfall
  • BrainPopJr.

ELL students are assessed with:

  • ACCESS (listening, speaking, reading and writing K-5)
  • MODEL (listening, speaking, reading and writing K-5)
  • TRC/DIBELS (Reading and Phonemic Awareness K-3)
  • SRI (Reading 3-5)
  • I-Ready (Math)
  • PARCC (3-5 ELA and Math)
