Hello Stoddert Families,
To better align with the timing of the DCPS budget process, we are moving our March PTO meeting to this Monday, March 1 at 6:30PM. We need you to participate in Monday’s PTO meeting to help us make a major decision impacting the budget for the 2021-2022 school year.
As you may know, DCPS allocates each school’s budget based on enrollment. Many schools have seen a decrease in enrollment during the pandemic, and a corresponding decrease in budget allocation from DCPS.
Your school, your PTO and your LSAT have been working to come up with ways to preserve the things that matter most to our children for the coming year – keeping student-to-teacher ratios down, preserving resource teachers who can support students, and trying to maintain the flexibility to bring as many students back for in-person learning as possible. In this extraordinary and challenging budget season, for this year, we have come to the realization that we cannot maintain our school as it is today with the budget allocated by DCPS.
We ask you all to attend Monday’s important PTO meeting so that we can discuss your priorities, the trade-offs under discussion, and vote on whether to provide assistance from the PTO to bridge the gap.
Please join us on Monday, March 1 at 6:30PM. A zoom link will be sent Monday morning.
We thank you in advance,
Jorge, Lucie, your PTO Co-Presidents & Lauren, LSAT Chair with the LSAT Committee
