Dear Stoddert Community,
As most of you are aware, the Coronavirus is very much top of mind and a growing concern around the world. With that, we wanted to let you know what steps we, at Stoddert, are taking as a measure of precaution to ensure the safety and security of Stoddert students and staff and our community overall.
– We are asking that ALL students returning to school from any international travel check in with Nurse Carlson in our Health Suite before being admitted back to the classroom. We are aware that most of the Coronavirus cases are in Wuhan, Hubei Province of China, but that as this virus spreads, particularly as people travel, we want to make sure we take all necessary precautions.
– We are working in partnership with the State Department and Department of Health to follow any updated guidelines and will continue to update our community as we receive information, if necessary. We are also following the latest updates coming from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the DC Department of Health to ensure we are acting in accord with their guidance and recommendations.
– We encourage you to stay informed but be reminded that for now, there have only been 6 reported cases in the United States, with none in Washington, D.C. to-date. For more information, including what you need to know, latest updates in the country and Frequently Asked Questions, you can visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
– Finally, and as many of you know, we are also at the height of flu season, with an estimated 15 million cases currently in the U.S. As always, we highly encourage you to keep your child home if he or she exhibits any flu symptoms until they have fully recovered.
We will continue to keep you posted as necessary.
Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
