On a crisp October day, the Stoddert second graders set off for their field trip to the Arboretum, where they put six weeks of bike riding lessons to the test. A U-Haul was rented, bikes were loaded, bikes were unloaded, the kids rode around the Arboretum, bikes were re-loaded, brought back to the school, unloaded and the U-Haul was returned.
Sound tiring? It was! And it happened three times since each class went separately. It was worth it so these city kids could learn to ride a bike! Coach Wagner worked really hard to make this happen for our kids, but he says none of it could have happened without the PTO. This is one example of the many things the PTO pays for that directly benefit all of our children. It’s not just second grade though – every student’s education is directly enriched from PTO funds. We will tell you more in the coming weeks!
We stretch every dollar we get from DCPS. What we receive isn’t enough to cover basic classroom needs, much less something like the 2nd Grade’s bike riding field trip. Financial assistance from the PTO is essential, and this generosity from the family donations is what has made Stoddert thrive and become one of the most sought-after elementary schools in the city.
All of Stoddert’s children benefit from PTO donations. Won’t you join the other families in ensuring Stoddert continues to offer these programs to our children and make your donation today?
While we always welcome large donations, we are asking for a $400 donation per family.
You can send your contribution via PayPal (to “firstname.lastname@example.org”) or by leaving a check (payable to “Stoddert PTO”) at the front office. Either way, please include a note with your child’s/children’s name(s) and teacher(s) because we are tracking participation by grade and class.
