A Room Parent is a volunteer who helps facilitate communication between parents and the teacher, school administration and/or the PTO and will aide their teacher/s throughout the year. The responsibilities of a classroom parent may vary from teacher to teacher and grade to grade. Examples of tasks a Room Parent may help with include coordinating class celebrations, seeking chaperones for field trips, and reminding parents of upcoming Stoddert and class activities and deadlines.
If you are interested in becoming a Room Parent, please speak with your child’s teacher during the first week of school. Each class typically has two to three Room Parents. It’s always helpful for one of the parents to have served the role in the past, but we’d also love to have parents who have not been a Room Parent and parents new to Stoddert to take on the role! It really is a great way to be involved with the your child’s class and to get to know the teacher and parents of their classmates.
