Dear Stoddert Families,
Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos released the names of schools from across the United States which have been recognized as 2018 National Blue Ribbon Schools. I’m pleased to announce that Benjamin Stoddert Elementary School is one of those schools.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of Stoddert students, families, and staff members in creating a safe and welcoming school where our students master challenging and engaging content.
There are approximately 132,000 public and private schools in the United States. Only 349 of those schools were chosen to receive the National Blue Ribbon Schools award. Stoddert is the only DC elementary school to receive the award.
Blue Ribbon Schools are honored in one of two performance categories: Exemplary High Performing Schools, or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools. Stoddert was recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School, which means that our performance on state assessments or nationally normed tests is among the highest in the United States.
Our school will be officially recognized by the United States Department of Education as a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School at a ceremony on November 7-8.
As always, I thank you for your continued support. I also ask you to please thank your child’s teacher for the hard work they do every day on behalf of our students and families.
