DCPS has made it mandatory for parents and volunteers to undergo a Clearance process. Stoddert PTO has worked closely with DCPS to have them come to us for the fingerprinting portion for your convenience. Other wise you must go to DCPS offices for the fingerprinting portion.
Please read the information below very carefully. You must sign up with us and complete your online form and obtain TB test results before 10/10/18 to participate (TB test takes 48-72 hrs) days to get results. Bring copies of these items and an approved photo ID with you. If you can’t make our volunteer fingerprinting day please see the DCPS Clearance site for hours of operation. If you sign up please READ BELOW. You will be contacted to confirm paperwork before you attend.
Do You Need to Seek Clearance? Yes, if you plan to be at school for more than a one time birthday type event where you will be a chaperone or in charge of children in or out of the building. This means during the school day, not PTO exclusive activities See below-
Any individual that will be providing volunteer services, including parents, must complete the DCPS Clearance process. The only exceptions granted are individuals in the groups noted below:
- You are volunteering for a one-time,on-campus event, like Career Day or Field Day. Please email the Clearance Team at dcps.clearance@dc.gov to confirm whether you qualify for a clearance exception.
- You are a potential volunteer with an active secret or top secret federal security clearance. Individuals in this group should complete the Federal Security Clearance Verification letter in lieu of being fingerprinted with DCPS. The original signed verification form, a copy of a state issued photo ID, and TB test taken within the last 12 months should be emailed to dcps.clearance@dc.gov
Complete this online form and TB test prior to your visit to DCPS for fingerprinting or Stoddert on 10/10. Note that within the application, you must indicate your school location (Stoddert) and list Ibis Villegas as a contact. When you report to DCPS Central Office or Stoddert for the fingerprinting process, you must bring negative TB test results taken within the last 12 months to receive fingerprinting services. No exceptions will be made.
What else to bring? State/Country issued photo ID:
We are able to accept a driver’s license, non-drivers ID, passport or military ID. Unfortunately, DCPS will not be able to provide fingerprinting services without one of these forms of ID.
What if my tuberculosis (TB) test was positive?
If your skin test is positive, but you do not have active TB, then you will need to show negative results from a blood test taken in the last 12 months or a chest x-ray taken in the last 5 years.
Clearance letters are emailed within 5-10 business days of the fingerprinting date. You are not eligible to begin volunteering at school until you receive the clearance letter.
DCPS clearance records are valid for 2 years from the fingerprinting date. As a reminder, the date of your clearance is at the top left corner of your clearance letter. Once the 2 year period has past, you must return to DCPS Central Office to complete the fingerprinting process. Note that a new TB test is not required for returning volunteers.
