The following letter went home to parents/guardians…
Check The Website & Sign Up For E-mail Alerts!
Stoddert Elementary and the PTO communicate on all school-wide activities, events and important information through our school’s website (www.stoddert.org) and a master e-mail list. The website and the e-mail list are used to communicate to our entire school throughout the year and is separate from DCPS communications and communications within your class and with your child’s teacher.
The website is always the first place to find information on what is taking place at school. A paper copy of information will not always be sent home. In addition to the website, we ask that ALL families sign up for the school’s e-mail list:
http://www.stoddert.org/news-and-events/chalkboard/
This is an opt-in e-mail list, which means that you must go to the website and sign yourself up. Even if you have provided your e-mail to your teacher, the front office or on a DCPS form, you MUST still sign yourself up in order to receive e-mail communications on what is happening at Stoddert.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN:
- Information on all news and upcoming events will be posted on the Stoddert website: www.stoddert.org
- A weekly e-mail (named “The Chalkboard”) will be sent out each Sunday morning at around 9am with current school news, information for the week and upcoming events. All information in The Chalkboard can be found on the school website. (Please be sure to look in junk mail folders for e-mails from Stoddert.)
- Additional mid-week e-mails and text messages might be sent when there is information to share.
- Each student will be provided a green folder that will go back and forth from school and home each day. Teachers use this folder differently for in-class purposes. From time-to-time, the school and the PTO will also use the green folder to send home paper copies of information.
All of the communication listed above via the Stoddert website and the e-mail list is information that pertains to Stoddert only. The school and the PTO do NOT communicate about DCPS related things like school closings and delays. Visit www.dcps.dc.gov for more information on how DCPS communicates.
As a reminder it is your responsibility to check the website and the e-mail alerts to find out what is going on at Stoddert. We look forward to a wonderful SY18/19 school year. Please contact us at communications@stoddert.org with any questions or concerns.
Thank You,
Stoddert PTO Communications Team
