Stoddert Elementary is excited to launch Beanstack! Beanstack is a web-based, mobile friendly tool encouraging daily independent reading. It permits students to track every minute of their independent reading. To initiate this incentive,
Stoddert joined the DCPS city-wide challenge named “Three Million Minutes Reading Challenge: Minute by Minute Reading Inspires”on January 8, 2018. It continues through the month of April.
Across the city, all 115 DCPS schools will read together as part of our inaugural Three Million Minute Reading Challenge. Schools may sponsor unique reading challenges throughout the year as well. We will participate through our school’s Beanstack site (https://stoddertes.beanstack.org), a mobile-friendly tool to help students track their independent reading!
Students should sign in with their Student ID through the site’s homepage (https://stoddertes.beanstack.org) and begin tracking their minutes. Please ask our school librarian (Mrs. Bowlin) or your student’s teacher if they need help with their username and password. Attached is a PDF explaining the Beanstack login process.
LOG READING ANYTIME
Once logged in, click the “Log Reading and Activities” button at the top of your screen. Add in the number of minutes each person has read plus the title of the book, article, or other material.
Students in Grades 3 through 5 should be able to upload this information into the computer themselves. However, students in Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 may need some assistance to get into the program.
If you have any additional inquiries, please feel free to contact Mrs. Bowlin.
