Our new school crossing guard, Ms. Nae, started this week at the intersection of Calvert and 40th streets. Please say “hello” when you see her!
She was sent to Stoddert, because DCPS and the DC Department of Transportation recognized this as a dangerous intersection with many walkers, Metro buses and cars passing through each morning and afternoon. Ms. Nae is in addition to Ms. Deborah who will still be stationed at the intersection of Calvert and 39th Streets.
Parents are also reminded of our driving rules and code of conduct. Please DO NOT EVER pull over, idle or drop children off in the cross walks or middle of the intersection at 40th and Calvert. Ms. Nae is now there to ensure that this intersection is safer for everyone passing through.
Please do not think that you are the only parent who is busy and must get somewhere in the morning or the afternoon. Putting yourself and others at risk with unsafe driving and parking is never a solution. We ask that all parents take the time to familiarize yourself with the driving rules to help make pick up and drop off safe for everyone.
Thank you to the PTO and all of the parents who advocated for a crossing guard! And, thank you to the parents and students who continue to follow the rules!
