Are you interested in being a room parent this year for your child’s classroom? Now is the time to ask your child’s teacher and also let the PTO’s room parent coordinators (Alysa MacClellan and Juli Smith) know of your interest.
One of the ways that the school functions and communicates is through the room parents. Room parents are a critical part of the school by supporting the teachers and helping to keep their classrooms informed. No experience is required to be a room parents and you don’t have to be at drop off and pick up every day to be a room parent. Anyone can be a room parent! Being a room parent is a great way to be involved in your child’s school without taking on too much responsibility.
Typically, there are a few room parents within each classroom and the exact room parent’s role varies from classroom to classroom. In general, room parents are volunteers that help their teachers throughout the year to organize different activities and facilitate communication with the teacher and the other families in the class. Room parents also help to communicate activities going on at the school and with the PTO.
If you are interested in becoming a room parent this year, please check with your teacher and then email the PTO’s room parent coordinators. There will be a short room parent meeting in a few weeks.
Please contact Alysa or Juli if you have any questions about being a room parent.
