Principal Marjorie Cuthbert
Dear Stoddert Parents,
I am thrilled to be your principal and to be given the opportunity to work with you and your children. It is going to be an exhilarating year for everyone at Stoddert. We will learn in temporary buildings and watch the progress of wonderful new surroundings. Many of you have already been involved in designing the marvelous new facilities and planning for exciting events in the upcoming school year. I look forward to working with you through challenges to make the transitional experience a positive year for your children. Thanks in advance to each and all of you for helping us maintain excellence every day. Your involvement and support, coupled with quality instruction from highly skilled teachers, will lead to achievement for all students.
Just to give a brief introduction, let me share a quick summary of my career, which has been devoted to public education. I have worked in both urban and suburban school systems. I have served as a teacher, guidance counselor, district level director of student services, adjunct professor, project director of federal grants, and public school principal. My undergraduate and master’s degrees are from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. I hold a Ph.D. in educational guidance and counseling from the University of Florida and have acquired 30 additional credits in educational leadership leading to licensure as a K-12 principal. All these positions have involved work with learners of all abilities and skill levels, minority students, English language learners, students with disabilities, and Section 504 students. From all of these experiences, my energies remain directed toward working in a school setting — identifying needs, obtaining resources, and implementing sound educational practices to ensure growth for students, teachers, and parents. This is the role of a school principal, your principal, and I will give you the best that I have.
I now want to know about you and your children. When opportunities are presented to us, please introduce yourselves and tell me about your children. I am so eager to know the Stoddert families and community. We can renovate, create, and achieve great things together!
Sincerely,
Marjorie Cuthbert, Ph.D.
