STEM Enrichment is offered to all students at Stoddert in grades 3-5, during reserved specials block (50 minutes) once per week. It is led by Mr. Mark McCants. (email@example.com) The students are introduced to critical thinking and research skills, along with other enriched learning experiences with the goal of completing a research project as a culminating activity, which is usually based on the interest of the student(s). This year we have added STEM into our enrichment program. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) This will allow us to enrich our students’ academic experience more towards meeting the 21st century standards of learning and Next Generation State Standards (NGSS). Students are given the choice of whether they would like to complete the project by themselves, in a pair, or a small group (no more than 3 students) based on their personal interests.

As a part of our STEM Enrichment class, students are held accountable by their quality of work, time-management, focus on the task, and completion of their culminating activity. This truly keeps our kiddos engaged throughout the process of each session. Here is the grading rubric and accountability checklist that highlights student expectations in STEM Enrichment this year. All STEM students were made familiar with these documents and have their own copies in their personal work folder.
