Spring is gorgeous at Stoddert; highlights from a week of DC CAS testing; report cards went out Friday the 8th; please inform the office when your child is absent; school is out on Friday for Emancipation Day; Spring Break is coming!
Stoddert’s Student Council is supporting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients program. All students received a small collection box that can be filled with change to add to the school’s contribution. Please have your children bring their collection boxes back to school on March 17 to be added to the classroom boxes. More information about the program is in the post.
This Monday, March 14, the student council will hold a bake sale in the lobby. There are two windows of opportunity to pick up some delicious treats. The morning sale will be from 8.20 a.m to 8.45 a.m., and the afternoon sale from 3:15 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
Earlier this month Stoddert 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-graders were invited to submit a short essay on the theme “What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?” The winning authors were Ella Gantman and Adam Bressler, both in Ms Prosser’s fourth-grade class. Their winning essays are attached as a PDF.
Please join us at Stoddert on Tuesday, February 15, for our first-ever Academic Night. It is a night you will not want to miss. There will be 13 different sessions for parents to learn more about reading and mathematics instruction, the Education Program for Gifted and Talented (EPGY), DC BAS and CAS assessments, testing vocabulary for ELL students, etc. Download a calendar to see full details.
Mini Open Houses in February; updated information about Stoddert and the out-of-boundary application process; a new date for the inaugural Stoddert Academic Night; and an important reminder about having your children to school on time, every day.
On Tuesday, February 22, Fillmore and the National Air and Space Museum will hold their annual Family Science Night. The program is limited to students in grades 3 and up. The night features gallery visits, an interactive science talk titled “A Voyage That Will Forever Change your Perspective,” and the IMAX film “Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D.” More information and a reservation form in the post.

Stoddert’s PTA wishes to enter into an incentive-based contract with one or more expert grant writers to increase the funds available to enhance the learning environment and educational quality of the school.
