This week DR. Cuthbert talks about the Student Council clothing sale, gives a construction status update, and reminds us about the parent-teacher conferences on Monday (when school will be closed for students).
Mr. Duff is offering ongoing math challenges to the third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students. Meet the winners of last month’s contest!
This year, we will gather on March 12, 2010, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Russian Embassy for a Little Chili Family Fun Night. We’ll have games for the kids, a small auction, and—of course—chili to eat. Auction items will include classroom art projects, teacher outings, and a limited number of “big ticket items” like our annual wine table. Why a Little Chili rather than our usual Big Chili? During this transition year we don’t want to compete with our Brick campaign, but we do want to celebrate our community.
We are currently signing up five- and six-year-olds for the Spring 2010 T-ball season. Games and practices occur at Volta Park, Palisades Park, or Rose Park. Go to http://nwlldc.org to learn more.
Samer Chiaviello and Joel Clark, Stoddert’s school-wide winners of this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee, entered the next level of competition on Tuesday, February 16th. They finished first and second, and both will move on to the District-wide Bee on March 20!
After all the snow it has been really great to get back into the routine. Remember parent-teacher conferences on March 1, read about the new Extra Help Program, get involved in the PTA. Don’t forget to support the cookie fundraiser and to buy your bricks!
Thanks to the PTA and parent donations of activity fees, time, and resources, Stoddert “East” has lovely play areas for the students in the front and back of the trailers. Your donations also help purchase teachers’ supplies, field trips (through scholarships), teacher trainings, and classroom libraries.
THANKS to the PTA and parent volunteers for the wonderful new front playground! The students have many new outlets for their energy. The four-square numbers were painted on Thursday and are terrific. It is so exciting to have been a part of this tremendous effort. It is also great to have more balls and hula [...]

Hope you had a good week. It was a busy week for the Stoddert Wolves. The students were busy with different projects and many were taking baseline assessments. We practiced a fire drill and then had another authentic fire drill practice when a microwave set off the fire alarm. It was good to know [...]
