DDOT’s Urban Forestry Administration will begin its annual street tree planting next week. This year, more than 3,500 new street trees will be planted in all eight D.C. wards. See the post for more about the program, and for details about becoming a “Canopy Keeper,” helping to keep new trees watered until they become well established and can thrive.

This market is in its second season, and is run by non-profit DC Greens. Proceeds from the market go to support school garden programs (including one at Stoddert), and farm-to-school initiatives in the District. As a new market, we are relying on the community to keep afloat. Hope to see you at the market, and please help us spread the word!
Hearst Elementary is holding its second annual E-Cycle April 17th from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Recycle or freecycle your old electronic equipment, enjoy the bake sale, and support another D.C. school’s green efforts!
