DCPS Releases Snow Make Up Calendar for the 2009-2010 School Year

From Chancellor Michelle Rhee; In figuring out the snow make-up calendar, we have consulted with the Office of the State Superintendent, DCPS instructional staff, the Washington Teachers Union, and a number of parents. Little Chili Family Fun Night at the Russian Embassy

This year, we will gather on March 12, 2010, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Russian Embassy for a Little Chili Family Fun Night. We’ll have games for the kids, a small auction, and—of course—chili to eat. Auction items will include classroom art projects, teacher outings, and a limited number of “big ticket items” like our annual wine table. Why a Little Chili rather than our usual Big Chili? During this transition year we don’t want to compete with our Brick campaign, but we do want to celebrate our community.

DCSBOE Public Meeting | March 3

Review the presentation by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to the State Board at the February 17, 2010 public meeting. The newly organized science standards documents in grades 5, 8, and Biology will establish a more effective assessment system and be a better resource to the District’s local education agencies and teachers. Links to the standards and presentation in the post.
