This meeting is for anyone interested in discussing options for Stoddert’s natural playground. We have a landscape architect lined up to help with ideas and options but have to work out the specific details for the meeting. We really want the word out so everyone who is interested has a say in putting it together.
Hello Everyone, I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather. It is a gorgeous time of year. I hope to see many of you at Politics and Prose on Saturday, April 17th. Let’s buy some books! Hi Everyone and Happy Spring—A thank-you from Mimi Laver.
Please attend the March general PTA meeting.
The District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association Basketball Championship Game features the top teams of DCPS! These teams will compete not just to win the DCIAA Championship, but also for the chance to play in the City Title Game on March 14th at the Verizon Center. General Admission $10, Students with ID $5. Come out on Saturday, March 6, 2010!
This week DR. Cuthbert talks about the Student Council clothing sale, gives a construction status update, and reminds us about the parent-teacher conferences on Monday (when school will be closed for students).
From Chancellor Michelle Rhee; In figuring out the snow make-up calendar, we have consulted with the Office of the State Superintendent, DCPS instructional staff, the Washington Teachers Union, and a number of parents. Thanks to many of you who offered suggestions about how best to maximize instructional time, preserve family vacation time, and meet the state attendance requirements.
Mr. Duff is offering ongoing math challenges to the third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students. Meet the winners of last month’s contest!
This year, we will gather on March 12, 2010, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Russian Embassy for a Little Chili Family Fun Night. We’ll have games for the kids, a small auction, and—of course—chili to eat. Auction items will include classroom art projects, teacher outings, and a limited number of “big ticket items” like our annual wine table. Why a Little Chili rather than our usual Big Chili? During this transition year we don’t want to compete with our Brick campaign, but we do want to celebrate our community.
After all the snow it has been really great to get back into the routine. Remember parent-teacher conferences on March 1, read about the new Extra Help Program, get involved in the PTA. Don’t forget to support the cookie fundraiser and to buy your bricks!
