Thursday night was the last PTA meeting of the year, and my last meeting as co-president. I want to thank you all for a great 2 years. We’ve had a busy and big transition year, and yet we pulled off a lot of great things, raised money and gave support to the school despite our temporary setting.
What an exhilarating week for the Stoddert Wolves and their teachers. Stoddert is assessed for Autonomy School status, and construction on the new school is still on schedule. Don’t forget to get your registrations in soon.
Stoddert held its 2010 Science Fair on Tuesday, May 11 for 3rd- through 5th-graders. Students recorded and displayed the results of their experimentation and were judged by parent volunteers. Three students from the top five placements will present at the DC City-Wide Science Fair.
One of Stoddert’s most popular events!
Encourage your children to sing, recite a poem, dance or perform what they like — in groups or by themselves.
Potluck! Bring your favorite ethnic dish, six servings.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED. Please contact Claire Dejou – charlesandclaire@starpower.net

Join other parents, community members and DCPS staff for a discussion about what should be included on the DCPS School Scorecard—a tool that will give you the information you want about how well each DCPS school is performing.

DCPS’ goal is to ensure that students with special needs receive the services they require to succeed academically and participate fully in school life. Share your ideas with Chancellor Michelle Rhee and Deputy Chancellor for Special Education Dr. Richard Nyankori at our monthly Chancellor’s Community Forum on Wednesday, May 26.
On May 19, 2010, DCSBOE will have a public meeting to vote on the proposed No Child Left Behind Report Card. Additionally, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) will give presentations to the State Board on the District’s high risk designation, school improvement activities, common core state standards, and Phase II of the Race to the Top application.
