Building our community brick-by-brick
(See the news feed for updates, videos, plans, and more).
Since 1932, Stoddert Elementary School has served Glover Park and the surrounding communities well. It has helped our children form a solid educational foundation and build lifelong friendships. We have been fortunate to attract the brightest and the best, most dedicated educators in the District of Columbia. We have welcomed children and families from around the globe to teach and inspire us, and to share the wonderful discovery of what a culturally diverse learning environment has to offer. Our most valuable asset is—and remains—our wonderful community and its caring people who have shared common bonds and values for almost 80 years.
To that end, we now have the incredible opportunity to make something wonderful even better.
This fall, when our children return to Stoddert for the 2010-2011 academic year they will enter a newly renovated campus facility. As you are probably aware, our school has not been adequately updated since it opened its doors in 1932. Thanks to D.C. Public School system funding, next year the school will be a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold-certified model facility, which will be emulated by other schools in the upcoming years. Stoddert will increase in size from 18,000 to 64,000 square feet and will unite the community with a common recreation facility that will serve the needs of all.
The Largest Fundraising Effort in Stoddert Elementary School History
We are proud to introduce the 2010 Building Our Community Brick by Brick campaign. This is an opportunity for everyone to become a permanent part of the new campus facility by purchasing an engraved brick which will be installed on the pathway at the entrance to the new school and recreation center.
Money used from this fundraising effort will allow us to provide additional equipment, materials, and programming to enhance our new surroundings. These will include educational supplies and gymnasium equipment, as well as schoolyard and common space equipment that will benefit not only our current students but members of our larger community.
Thank you for your generous support, and more importantly, for demonstrating what makes our community special.
