The DC Greens and DCPS Food and Nutrition Services will be launching the 2018 School Food Advisory Board. The board will be made up of parents, students, teachers, nonprofit partners and other DC Public School community members, and they would love to see members of the Stoddert community represented!
The Board will provide a collaborative space for DCPS Food and Nutrition Services to share updates and receive feedback about their meal programs. Similar school food advisory groups in other cities across the US have lead to concrete changes in their cities’ meal programs, in food quality, food access (e.g. serving Breakfast in the Classroom), and other areas. By working together and engaging in productive dialogue, we can continue enhancing DC school food to ensure that our meals are tasty, nutritious, and culturally relevant.
The board will meet four times in 2018, beginning Wednesday, February 21, at Dunbar High School. Food will be provided. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with your teachers, parents, and students. We are also happy to send you outreach materials, or to send a representative to speak at an assembly or in classrooms. Those interested in joining can sign up here.
