Stoddert has won a Sponsor-a-Hive grant from The Honeybee Conservancy. Coming this spring, we will be adding bees to our school garden! Through the grant, Stoddert will receive at bee “cottage” or home, courtesy of grant sponsor, Crown Bees. We will also receive mason and leafcutter bees, reusable wood tray holes for both types of bees, and an information on how to care for our bees.
There are yellow jacket hives burrowed under several of the plants in the large rectangular planter at the front entrance of school. Please helps us keep the children out of the planters to avoid disrupting the hives and releasing swarms of bees.
We wanted to call your attention to this article in the Washington City Paper on overcrowding in Ward 3. As you know, Stoddert is the most overcrowded school in the entire city and our PTO continues to advocate with DCPS for a plan to address Stoddert. Will D.C.
