Welcome to our new, full time school nurse! If you are in the school, please be sure to say “hello” to Nurse Carlson.
We are very happy to have Nurse Carlson and very thankful to the PTO, parents, school administration and City Council Member Mary Cheh for helping to bring a full time nurse to Stoddert. As you know, the PTO and the school had to advocate very heavily to receive a full time nurse at Stoddert.
Health Suite Reminders:
FEVER: DCPS and DOH recommend that students stay at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever or do not have signs of fever, without using fever-reducing drugs. Staying at home with a fever will reduce the number of people who may get infected. Students who are sick should not participate in any school activity or in school after care.
VACCINATIONS: Get vaccinated. Getting vaccinated is the best way to reduce the risk of getting the flu. DCPS and DOH recommend that students or staff with flu-like symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea must stay at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have symptoms.
MEDICATIONS: Please stop by the Health Suite if your child has medications that still need to be submitted, especially emergency medications such as Albuterol or Epinephrine. All medicines that need to be dispersed during the day must be given directly to the nurse or office staff. The best way to reach Mrs. Carlson is via the main school phone line or directly in the nurses office at (202) 671-6032.
