The following is a message from Principal Bryant regarding school closure on Wednesday, November 8, 2017…
Dear Stoddert Elementary School Parents and Families:
I am writing to notify you that Stoddert Elementary School will be closed for the remainder of the day because of a temporary utilities outage due to damage to the geothermal water main line. Water and heating system issues, especially in cooler weather, require swift action and professional attention to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Immediately upon discovering the damage’s effects to the building, we reached out to our partners at the Department of General Services (DGS), who activated the appropriate city agency. Engineers diagnosed the problem while Stoddert staff moved children who were already at school to unaffected areas of the building. I alerted parents of a 2-hour delay via RoboCall.
Engineers are currently working diligently to resolve the issue. During utility interruptions, it is our priority to maintain student and staff safety throughout the outage and repair work. Once the building is evaluated and cleared for full-use, we will reopen tomorrow morning.
We apologize for the inconvenience of this school closing. Please be assured that the well-being of our students is paramount at all times. If you have any questions related to this incident, please contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your support.
Principal, Stoddert Elementary School
