July 17, 2017
Dear Stoddert Families,
We hope you’re enjoying a wonderful, relaxing summer! This letter contains several important announcements regarding SY17/18, so please read it carefully.
New-to-Stoddert staff members for SY17/18 include:
- Mrs. Emily Busic, 3rd Grade Teacher. Mrs Busick is an experienced educator, having taught in DCPS and also the charter school system.
- Mr. Kaleb Collier, 2nd Grade Teacher. Mr. Collier is a familiar face, having taught in Ms. Choi’s absence for the first semester of SY16/15. After completing that teaching assignment, he then taught at Janney for the remainder of the year.
Staff members with changed duties for SY 17/18 include:
- Mr. O’Beirne, while will be moving from 3rd grade to 2nd grade.
Stoddert will once again play a role in the Mary Jane Patterson Fellowship. The MJP Fellowship is a DCPS program which prepares new school leaders, and the final stages of the fellowship include school-based experiences for the Fellows. You may remember that Mrs. Berry-Young, Mr. Turner and Dr. Plenty have served as MJP Resident Principals in prior years. This year, we’ll be hosting several MJP Fellows for shorter length shadow experiences.
Our teachers will be back at work on Monday, August 14. If any of you are able to make a Visitor Parking Pass available to a Stoddert staff member, please bring the pass to the Stoddert office prior to August 14, and we’ll assign it to a specific teacher.
We’ll be hosting a “Sneak Peek” opportunity on Friday, August 18 from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. This is a chance for your child and you to drop off school supplies and briefly meet your child’s teacher; it is not intended as a time for lengthy conversations with teachers, or formal classroom presentations. After the “Sneak Peek,” an informational session will take place in the gym from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m.
An important reminder: there is a wealth of important information on our website stoddert.org. Please check the website regularly for up-to-date information about our school.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Ibis Villegas, Assistant Principal
