The following is a letter from Stoddert’s Student Enrichment Model (SEM) teacher, Mr. Scott, to update families about SEM and the deadlines for projects through the end of the year. Please contact Mr. Scott with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Greetings Stoddert Families,
I am writing to you regarding the Schoolwide Enrichment Model, SEM, projects that students in Grades 3-5 have recently begun diligently working on in school. Our students are working on their second round of projects with the help of Stoddert’s Schoolwide Enrichment Model, SEM, team which also includes Mrs. Bowlin and Ms. Thompson.
The plan was for students in grades 3-5 to complete four quarterly projects, but that has been reduced to three now as we take into account Science Fair and preparation for mandatory testing as the school year progresses. This letter is to notify you that the due dates for the final two projects for students in Grades 3-5 will be March 24, 2017 and June 2, 2017.
The third-grade and fourth-grade students are currently working on a unit in analysis and the fifth-grade students are working on projects related to their current science curriculum study of matter. Students will be able to use class time to complete most, if not all, parts of their projects. I do encourage students to work at home, when applicable. Generally, this is when students are working on the final phase of their project. For example, drawing or writing facts on posters, putting the finishing touches on a slide-show, building models, etc.
For any additional information, please feel free to contact me. Thank you very much for your continued support and collaboration.
