The following is a message from Principal Bryant to all Stoddert families…
Dear Stoddert Families,
As you may be aware, Stoddert uses the iReady Math online program in grades 2-5 to supplement our regular math instruction. All students in grades 2-5 have log-in information, and can access the program at home as well as at school. iReady Math is aligned with the Common Core State Standards, and we believe that our use of the program contributed to our outstanding performance on the 2015 PARCC assessment.
An iReady Wall of Fame has been created in the lobby of our school to recognize students who spend at least 101 minutes per week “Time on Task” with iReady Math. “Time on Task” is computed on a weekly basis by the iReady program, and a report is made available to me on Monday of each week. In order to ensure that “time on task” is really time spent on task, the program is designed to detect unusually long periods of unproductive time.
We’re recognizing four different “Time on Task” levels on our iReady Wall of Fame. Level 1 recognizes students who spend 101-150 minutes per week time on task; Level 2 recognizes students who spend 151-200 minutes per week time on task; Level 3 recognizes students who spend 201-250 minutes per week time on task, and; Level 4 recognizes students who spend more than 250 minutes per week time on task.
All students who are recognized on our iReady Wall of Fame will earn tickets for an end-of-year raffle for a mini iPad. Level 1 recognition earns 1 ticket per week; Level 2 recognition earns 2 tickets per week; Level 3 recognition earns 3 tickets per week, and; Level 4 recognition earns 4 tickets per week. In addition, all students who are recognized on the iReady Wall of Fame for an entire month will have the opportunity to have lunch with Assistant Principal Villegas and myself.
Because of your support, and the good work of our students, Stoddert is one of the top performing schools in DCPS in math. Let’s keep it that way! Please encourage your child to spend time on iReady.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.
Don Bryant, Principal
