Back to School Drive | August 4th, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
We hope the past six weeks of summer have treated you well. In just four weeks it will be time to go back to school! That means back to school shopping is right around the corner. As we prepare our children for school it is hard to think that another parent in our community may not have the financial resources to fully prepare their own children. So with the support of the PTA, who will purchase the backpacks, Stoddert Elementary will hold a Back-to-School drive to donate school supplies to families within our community.
All donations will first go to any Stoddert families that need back to school assistance and then to DC’s Central Union Mission’s Operation Backpack program. The Central Union Mission is the oldest social services agency in Washington, DC and their program collects backpacks filled with much needed school supplies specific to each grade level PK-12.
We will hold a drive Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Stoddert Recreation Center gym – refreshments and music will be provided. Come with your donations and be ready to catch up with friends and maybe even pack backpacks! This will be a great community building event to share with fellow Stoddert families and have fun at the same time!
You can drop off supplies and/or monetary donations to be used to purchase the school supplies on Saturday, August 4th. After August 4th only school supplies can be dropped off in a box INSIDE THE SCHOOL FRONT OFFICE until Thursday, August 9th.
