Today, DC Public Schools are bracing for Hurricane Irene, which is expected to hit the Washington, D.C., area this weekend with forecasted wind gusts of up to 48 mph and possible flooding. I want you to know that we are taking every precaution to prepare our schools for the storm and respond quickly in the aftermath to make any necessary repairs.

Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, DCPS is partnering with the Washington Nationals to host a School Supply Drive for DCPS students. They need 20 volunteers each day who can help collect school supplies from game attendees before they enter the stadium. The Nationals will provide one pass for the game to each volunteer. The PTA is hosting a new parent social this Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6:30. The location is 3908 Benton St. (the home of Molly Evans and Brian Cohen) — very close to Stoddert.
