From Chancellor Michelle Rhee; In figuring out the snow make-up calendar, we have consulted with the Office of the State Superintendent, DCPS instructional staff, the Washington Teachers Union, and a number of parents. This year, we will gather on March 12, 2010, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Russian Embassy for a Little Chili Family Fun Night. We’ll have games for the kids, a small auction, and—of course—chili to eat. Auction items will include classroom art projects, teacher outings, and a limited number of “big ticket items” like our annual wine table. Why a Little Chili rather than our usual Big Chili? During this transition year we don’t want to compete with our Brick campaign, but we do want to celebrate our community.

Links to the standards and presentation in the post.
We are currently signing up five- and six-year-olds for the Spring 2010 T-ball season. Games and practices occur at Volta Park, Palisades Park, or Rose Park. Go to http://nwlldc.org to learn more.
