Any parent looking for insights onto how to gain cooperation, set and uphold limits and foster respect and responsibility may want to check out the Parent Encouragement Program (PEP). PEP is a local nonprofit parenting education organization that has offered fabulous parenting programs throughout the D.C. area for the past 28 years. This January, they are offering five free parenting workshops throughout Montgomery County, NW DC and Northern Virginia.

Preregistration is required by calling PEP at 301-929-8824 or 703-242-8824.

The workshop “Why Don’t My Kids Listen to Me?” will be offered four times:

  • January 9, 3-4:30 pm at PEP office in Kensington
  • January 9, 10-11:30 am in Great Falls
  • January 12, 7;30-9 pm, Renaissance Children’s Art Center, North Potomac
  • January 14, 7:30-9 pm, Temple Micah in NW DC

This workshop will offer insights on how to gain cooperation from your children without repeating, reminding, nagging or yelling.

Also, a free workshop for parents of infants and toddlers “Parenting With a Plan” will be offered January 14, 7:30-9 pm at the PEP office in Kensington. This workshop will help parents start their parenting off on the right track and avoid common child-parent problems later.

PEP offers classes and workshops designed for parents of kids of all ages. Details on these programs as well as PEP’s complete winter schedule can be found at www.PEPparent.org.

I know many Stoddert parents have had good experiences with the PEP program. I’d encourage them to share them here!
