Stoddert Elementary

This Week, from Dr. Cuthbert | December 11

Hello everyone,

‘Tis the season to be chilly. Please be reminded to send your children to school with warm outerwear. We have been having PE outside as much as the weather will permit. We also rotate each grade level for outside play on the front blacktop. Unfortunately, the backfield has been very wet, with standing water on it. Teachers also will be taking the students outside for walks, etc.

Speaking of bundling up with warm clothes, we have wonderful items on our Lost and Found rack — so many that a visitor thought that we were having a clothing drive! PLEASE stop in and claim scarves, jackets, sweatshirts, hats, etc. It is located across from the main office.

I thought you might like an update on a couple of fun facts. Our enrollment as of December 10 is 296 students. We have 142 girls and 154 boys. Our average daily attendance rate is 97%. We have set 98% as our goal. We need your continued support in letting us know when your children will not be in school. Attendance is entered into the computer every day, so we appreciate knowing as soon as possible about the reasons for absence. When we know the reason, we can enter the absence as “excused.” We appreciate your diligence.

Next week, I will attend budget meetings for the next school year. The guidelines for budgeting will also align with the process for the Local School Restructuring Team to meet and help formulate the school plan for next year. We will be reaching out to you for ideas and support. Stay tuned, as much more information will be coming about next year with respect to these processes and the opening of the gorgeous new school.
