Stoddert Elementary

A word from your PTA co-presidents | December 2009

Dear Stoddert Community,

As the last Chalkboard of 2009 goes out, we want to wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season and only wonderful times in 2010. We also want to say thanks to those of you who have volunteered your time for Stoddert this year. Your help is essential and there will be plenty of opportunities to step up in the new year.

While it takes all of us doing our part to keep Stoddert moving in the direction we want, there are some people who we really want to acknowledge. First, thanks to Dr. Cuthbert, all of our amazing teachers and the rest of the school staff for caring for and teaching our children each day. We would have no community without you!

Thank you to the PTA Executive Board: Molly Evans, Anastasia Miller, Jennifer McLennan, Katy Youel Page, Erik Warga, Jen Sweeney, Ginger Jacobs, Beth Mailey, Kevin Youel Page, Mitch Wander and Kathy StraussĀ  — you do your jobs plus step in to fill the gaps all the time. It is so impressive and we really do appreciate it.

To Christine Gossens and all the Room Parents — thanks for assisting our teachers, making the parties fun, keeping all of us up to date on what is happening and in general making our classrooms a better place!

Stephen Frum, Kristen Sunkes and Jen Sweeney — thank you for trying so hard to make the Fun Fair happen. You went above and beyond.

Thanks to Eliene Ralda, Jenny Epstein and Viraj Verma for our first Restaurant Night of the 2009-10 school year. We are looking forward to more in Spring!

Thanks to Anne Loiret and Jennifer McLennan for knocking yourselves out to get us a directory — hopefully next year will not be as difficult, but we sure appreciate what you were able to do for us this year!

To Brian Cohen, Julie Schneider and Sumita Arora, thanks for being the SIT Team and helping to keep the construction project moving. We can’t say how much we thank you for your ongoing efforts to bring us lights to Stoddert East, and a fabulous playground and interior space for our new school. It will be incredible, in part because of you.

And finally a gigantic thank you to Mike and Becky Gardner for spearheading the temporary playground project and now the Building Community Brick by Brick Campaign. You are incredible and we can not thank you enough.

So, please, have a safe and joyful break and be ready to partipate in all our 2010 events including the Brick Campaign, the Winter and Spring Fundraisers, the Little Chili and International Night. Stoddert is the wonderful community it is because of you and your children. Join in to help us make it the most it can be.
