This Week, from Dr. Cuthbert | November 14
Hi Everyone,
If you were not able to attend PTA on Thursday night, please watch for the next presentation of the gorgeous new Stoddert ES. Tonight we were treated to seeing the inside of the new buildings and the renovation of the old site. We also saw proposed playground equipment, and green space to be used for future natural playgrounds and proposed garden space. PTA committees having been working on these concepts and made a presentation. These projects and many more will lend themselves to true collaboration between the parents and teachers so that the students will benefit to the maximum.
Just wanted to let you know that we have been able to open the computer lab at Stoddert East. As you know, the original plan for Stoddert East called for the library and computer lab to function in the same room for this year. With the reorganization of space, the computer lab is now open, in addition to the library. Ms. Barr has been holding classes and utilizing many educational programs to enhance learning. Ms. Barr and Ms. Bruce now divide each class and switch at the halfway point. Please ask your child(ren) about all the wonderful things that are happening in these classes. Both Ms. Barr and Ms. Bruce expand concepts, provide practice for skills, and enhance the realization of our learning standards.
Please mark your calendars for the Multicultural Dance Festival on Friday, November 20, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. This is part of the Fillmore program and many of the 3rd- 5th graders will be featured in the performance. It will be held at Hardy Middle School Auditorium, 1810 35th St., NW. If you are able to attend, this should be a real treat.
Please keep in mind that the first PTA Open House will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009. This is a time when prospective parents can see our learning atmosphere and choose to attend. Please tell all your neighbors that we want to meet them. Another PTA Open House will be held January 14, 2010. Please help spread the word that other informal sessions will be held. Encourage any and all to call Stoddert (202.671.6030) and inquire about other times to visit. Ms. Carol Wilson, our business manager, is keeping a growing list of those interested.
Again, THANKS for contributing to our 100% compliance on shots for your child(ren). We are extremely proud of this accomplishment! Yeah!!!
–Dr. Marjorie Cuthbert
