Stoddert Elementary

Info from PTA meeting 11/12

The November PTA meeting was held last week and most of the information is already up on this site regarding the wonderful construction presentation by the Architect and Construction teams.   Dr. Cuthbert also talked about the updates in our current building that you may read in her weekly letter here on the website.  Here are some other things you missed:

Mary McLaughlin, our co-president, expressed thanks of behalf of us all for the efforts of the Fun Fair committee.  The PTA still needs someone to oversee pizza and childcare so parents can bring their kids to school during the meetings.

The PTA has been spent more money than it took in recently and we are hopeful that more families will be participating soon!   The teachers expressed their thanks for their monetary allotment that enabled them to purchase educational games, magazine subscriptions, science books, journals, personal dictionaries and other things for their classrooms.

The Stoddert Directories will be coming soon.

Tuesday evening 11/17  is Parent’s Night at Fillmore.  Don’t miss this chance to visit your childs classes and see some of their work!  There is also an opportunity to be an artist yourself after class visits.

What is your vision for our new school?  If the sky’s the limit… let’s raise some money and shoot for the moon!   Really, we’d love to hear from you!  Share your thoughts on what you’d like to see in the coming years.

All this renovation and new construction going on will require many additional funds for our students next year and in the coming years.   We are fortunate to have  an opportunity for the PTA to create and manage a new fundraiser this year and in the coming years.  The construction of a “plaza” in the common area approaching the new front entrance to the school will be partially brick and we will be offering engraved bricks for sale in the near future.  This is still in the planning stages and anyone interested in being on the committees involved are more than welcome!
