PTA meeting notes 9/17
Thanks to everyone who attended the PTA meeting and Back to School night last week! For anyone who could not attend, here are some of the things discussed at the PTA meeting:
Dr. Cuthbert spoke about how the school year is going (see her post). She introduced the staff, touched on striving for improvements in reading and math, and will be adding some more student activities soon.
Katherine Latterner from Fillmore Art Center talked about the program our kids enjoy and will be having an open house for parents sometime this fall.
Our PTA presidents, Mimi and Mary, introduced the other members of the PTA board and defined some of the positions. Congratulations to Mitch Wander who won the position on the LSRT by a show of hands. Katy and Erik spoke about the budget and presented information on last year’s spending vs. planned spending for this year. Many thanks to Brian Cohen and Mike Gardner for moving quickly on getting play space ready for our students and making sure the interests of all ages are met with play equipment!
Just a few more things to share:
- Dues Appeal—please support our Stoddert students by donating to the PTA funds. $300 is suggested but any amount is helpful! It is important to have as many families as possible participating.
- The Stoddert Directory is soon to be published. Please update your info on the website or turn in your forms to be included!
- Check out our website! New and improved this year—it’s a great tool for information and easy to use.
- Calling all volunteers…our school would love to have parents helping out in different ways during the school day. DCPS has a form for you to fill out and for more information email ginger_neva@yahoo.com
- Room parents are still needed for some classes. Please consider helping your child’s class !
- School pictures will be taken next Wednesday, September 30.
- The Fun Fair is scheduled for October 17, so stay tuned for more info !
- The PTA has paid for and organized both hard and soft surface outdoor play spaces. The equipment and materials will be ready to install Saturday, September 26. If you can lend a hand putting some of it together come on down! See the post.
