Stoddert is Looking for Classroom Volunteers
Stoddert Elementary is looking for in-class volunteers from the community. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer on a regular basis, please complete the D.C. Public Schools volunteer application process.
You’ll be required to fill out a set of forms with some personal information, such as your address and emergency contact information. There are also a few documents to sign, including a liability waiver and authorization for a criminal background check. The forms take less than 10 minutes to complete. With your forms, you’ll also need to provide current TB test (Tuberculosis skin test) results, show your photo ID, and have your fingerprints taken.
You can drop off your competed packet and have your fingerprints taken at the DCPS offices:
825 North Capitol Street, NE, 9th Floor
Washington, DC 20002
Times
- Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.;
- Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until noon; or
- By appointment.
(Note: We’d suggest avoiding noon-1:00 p.m .on Tuesdays, as the fingerprint staff are not always available during this hour depending on other assignments.) The time required for the fingerprint process can vary depending on whether other DCPS staff and volunteers are in line.
After 5-10 days, DCPS will mail you an approval letter authorizing you to volunteer.
You can review the requirements and download forms at http://tinyurl.com/dcps-volunteer or goto the DCPS website (http://dcps.dc.gov/), select “Community,” and then select “Volunteer in our Schools.”
For questions about the process, please email dcpsvolunteers@dc.gov or call (202) 442-5885.
Please check with Dr. Cuthbert for more information about the specific
volunteer opportunities. We look forward to lots of enthusiastic
volunteers from our Stoddert Community.
