Stoddert Elementary

September 26 | Message from Dr. Cuthbert

Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a good week. It was a busy week for the Stoddert Wolves. The students were busy with different projects and many were taking baseline assessments. We practiced a fire drill and then had another authentic fire drill practice when a microwave set off the fire alarm. It was good to know that the system works well. The students were wonderful, followed directions quickly, and cooperated completely. The teachers were solid role models throughout.

Several meetings were held for community and School Improvement Team (SIT) members. The architects and engineers gave us an update on the gorgeous new-to-be Stoddert. It’s amazing. We saw drawings of the buildings and plans for landscaping. Many of you are composing ideas for the new playground and will have the opportunity to share them at an upcoming meeting. Details will follow. The architects and engineers report that the building is on schedule and should be ready for next school year. As soon as school is out in June, they’ll make Stoddert East disappear and will create this new, modern, exciting complex with restored neighborhood amenities. The use of the new buildings, playgrounds, and fields is exciting to anticipate.

Just a friendly reminder — or clarification — that school begins at 8:45 a.m. and gets out at 3:15 p.m. Teachers will meet their classes on the new blacktop on days of A-OK weather. If it’s raining or snowing, etc., the students will wait inside by the teachers’ doors. Please do not drop your children off before 8:40 a.m. as they will not be supervised. Pre-K parents are the only parents who will walk into the building to drop off their child. Please have your children come on time. Students are tardy after the classroom lines go into the building and are in their rooms. Late students must go to the office for a tardy pass to hand to the teachers. We need to start school on time and begin instruction.

For dismissal, students attending After Care will go within the building to the cafeteria. All other students will be dismissed and escorted outside by their teachers to meet parents and caretakers. Students riding buses go directly to designated areas to wait and board buses. If you are picking up your children, please be on time. We appreciate your support and cooperation on these important matters.
