Pre-k welcome and supply list (Ms. Ford-Barnum)

Welcome to pre-kindergarten!

Dear parents,

I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and to welcome your child to my class. A good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort among parent, child, and teacher. I look forward to the work and growth we will all accomplish this year.

My expectations for conduct and academic standards are high. With your participation, both in and out of the classroom, we can look forward to a productive, creative, and enjoyable year togther.

Again, welcome! Please feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns you may have. My classroom door is always open and you can also leave messages for me through the school office. I will respond as soon as possible.

Tips that you can do to help your child as he/she transitions to the new school year:

• Casually discussing the new and exciting adventure he/she is about to begin.
• Prepare yourself. Your child will follow your lead (anxiety, excitement, sadness, etc).
• Acclimate your child to the school. Meet the teacher.
• Assure your child that you will return for him/her. Pre-kindergartners will associate departure with a time in their schedule (example: after rest).
• Keep good-byes short.

Supply list for the class

Each student will need the following items on the first day of school:

• 2 boxes of tissues
• 1 back pack (name on the back pack)
• 1 change of clothes in a plastic bag with the child’s name on it. Change the clothing according to the season and bring in new change when the clothes are used.
• Kindergarten mat for rest time (No sleeping bags or adult exercise mats)
• 1 4×6 picture of your child
• 3 large glue sticks per student
• Those with last names (A-M) bring in hand wipes (1 container)
• Those with last names (N-Z) bring in hand sanitizer (1 container)
• Lunch box (write name on the box)
• 1 box of magic markers (washable)
• 1 water color paint set
• 1 set of colored pencils
• 1 box of large, thick crayons
• 2 large (thick) pencils
